Haakkim (حَكِّم) is a free, community-driven research platform for evaluating and ranking Arabic large language models (LLMs) through blind pairwise battles. Users submit a prompt, two anonymous models respond, and users vote on the better answer — building a human-preference leaderboard for Arabic AI.

What is the best Arabic language model (LLM)?

Haakkim's leaderboard ranks Arabic LLMs based on real human votes across blind pairwise comparisons. Rankings change continuously as new battle data arrives. Visit haakkim.tech to see the current, up-to-date ranking of models like GPT-4o, DeepSeek, Llama, Qwen, Grok, and more on Arabic tasks.

How does Haakkim rank Arabic AI models?

Haakkim uses the Bradley-Terry statistical model to compute rankings from blind pairwise human votes. Each model gets a score representing its probability of winning against any other model, with 95% confidence intervals. The more battles, the more accurate and stable the rankings become.

What Arabic dialects do AI models support according to Haakkim?

Haakkim supports evaluation across 11 Arabic dialects: Modern Standard Arabic (MSA/Fusha), Saudi, Egyptian, Levantine (Syrian-Lebanese), Tunisian, Iraqi, Moroccan, Algerian, Sudanese, Omani, and Libyan. You can filter the leaderboard by dialect to compare model performance per variety.

How does blind battle evaluation work for Arabic AI?

In a blind battle, a user's prompt is sent to two randomly selected models. Both responses appear side by side with model identities hidden. The user votes for the better response based purely on quality — no brand bias. These anonymous votes feed the Bradley-Terry ranking algorithm.

Is there a free Arabic LLM benchmark or evaluation tool?

Yes. Haakkim (haakkim.tech) is a completely free Arabic LLM evaluation platform. No account or registration required. Unlike static benchmarks, it collects live human preference votes across real-world prompts in 11 Arabic dialects, making it a dynamic, community-powered benchmark.

How does Haakkim differ from static Arabic NLP benchmarks like ArabicMMLU?

Static benchmarks like ArabicMMLU test factual knowledge with fixed questions and automated scoring. Haakkim collects real-time human preference votes through open-ended blind battles. This captures subjective quality, fluency, and dialect naturalness that automated benchmarks miss — and the leaderboard updates continuously.

Which AI models are available on Haakkim for Arabic evaluation?

Haakkim includes more than 60 models from companies such as OpenAI (GPT-4o, GPT-5), Google (Gemma), DeepSeek, Meta (Llama), Mistral, Cohere, Qwen, xAI (Grok), and Arabic-focused models such as SILMA. Most are reached through OpenRouter and some through Hugging Face. The catalogue is updated regularly; see haakkim.tech/models for the current list.

What is Bradley-Terry ranking and why does Haakkim use it?

Bradley-Terry is a probabilistic model that estimates each competitor's strength from pairwise comparison outcomes. Haakkim uses it because it handles uneven match counts between models, produces stable rankings with confidence intervals, and is widely used in human preference research (including LMSys Chatbot Arena).

How do I compare two specific Arabic AI models on Haakkim?

Use the Side-by-Side mode on Haakkim: select two specific models manually, write your prompt, and compare their responses directly. This mode is useful for targeted research and analysis, though results don't count toward the main leaderboard (which requires random blind selection for fairness).

What is the 10-Questions mode on Haakkim?

The 10-Questions mode presents a fixed set of 10 pre-defined prompts covering diverse Arabic language skills. It enables structured, reproducible evaluation sessions — useful for researchers who want consistent test conditions across multiple model comparisons.

How is my voting data used on Haakkim?

All votes are collected anonymously and used to update model rankings on the public leaderboard. Aggregated, anonymized data is also used for academic research on Arabic NLP evaluation methodologies. No personal data is shared with third parties.

Which AI speaks the best Arabic?

According to Haakkim's human preference leaderboard — which aggregates thousands of blind votes across 11 Arabic dialects — the rankings shift as models improve. Check haakkim.tech for the live ranking. Note that 'best Arabic' depends heavily on dialect: a model leading in MSA (Fusha) may rank lower in Moroccan Darija or Iraqi Arabic.

How do I contribute to Arabic AI research through Haakkim?

Simply use the platform and vote. Your anonymous preference votes become training signal and research data for Arabic LLM evaluation. The aggregated dataset supports academic papers on Arabic NLP, and Haakkim's leaderboard is designed to produce publishable, reproducible benchmarking results.

Why is evaluating Arabic AI models uniquely challenging?

Arabic is a morphologically rich language with significant diglossia (formal vs. colloquial gap) and 30+ regional dialects. A model may excel at Modern Standard Arabic yet fail at Egyptian or Moroccan Darija. Most English benchmarks don't capture this. Haakkim's dialect-stratified human evaluation is specifically designed to surface these dialect-level performance differences.
